UNDP promotes the creation of a National SDG platform in Turkmenistan

Ashgabat, 15 November 2021: In the framework of the joint project "Partnering for SDGs acceleration” implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan, the national platform for the collection and dissemination of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) data was created at the State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan.

The National Platform is based on the list of SDG indicators adopted by Turkmenistan. The National platform for SDG reporting and the developed multifunctional software includes information on the country's achievements, metadata, charts, graphs and disaggregated data within SDG indicators.

The creation and implementation of a National platform for statistical reporting on SDGs is aimed at building a system for data monitoring and evaluating the results for planning and tracking progress towards the achievement of SDGs in the country, fulfilling international reporting obligations, preparing national reports on SDGs that will be available to a wide range of users, including government agencies, the private sector and civil society organizations. This, in turn, will further accelerate the process of developing recommendations for monitoring the data flows on SDGs and will increase the national statistical capacity of Turkmenistan.

The joint project between UNDP and the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan “Partnering for SDG acceleration” aims at strengthening national capacity and coordinating the work of the relevant ministries and entities of Turkmenistan towards the achievement of the SDGs.
