UNDP and the Office of the Ombudsperson of Turkmenistan held a video conference with experts from the Asia-Pacific Forum

Ashgabat, 2 June 2020: UNDP and the Office of the Ombudsperson of Turkmenistan held a videoconference with secretariat  of the Asia-Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions.

The aim of the videoconference is to conduct technical consultations with the Ombudsperson of Turkmenistan on the accreditation procedure carried out by the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions. The videoconference was also attended by Ms. Ainura Bekkoyenova, UNDP Istanbul Regional Office expert and Mr. Richard Komenda, OHCHR Regional Representative for Central Asia.

During the discussions, participants discussed issues related to the role of the Asia-Pacific Forum in strengthening the capacity of national human rights institutions, as well as assisting in the process of obtaining accreditation in the Sub-Committee on Accreditation of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions.
