Ashgabat, 11 May 2020: Opening ceremony of the online Training on the System of National Accounts took place in the State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan. The programme of the training module “System of National Accounts 2008” (SNA 2008) is compiled in accordance with the requirements for the mandatory minimum content and level of training of audience – representatives of the State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan, Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan, the Central Bank of Turkmenistan and other interested ministries and agencies of Turkmenistan. The training is organized within the project “Strengthening institutional and technical capacity of the State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan”, implemented jointly by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Turkmenistan and Government of Turkmenistan.

The educational tasks of the module support the formation of understanding of the economic content and information capabilities of macroeconomic aggregates of the system of national accounts of the SNA 2008. It is intended, firstly, to provide material for methodological work in the process of studying international and national standards in the field of the  SNA 2008, the structure of this information system and its sections, the most important indicators and interrelation between them. Secondly, solving the exercises proposed in the course will allow students to understand the scope of various indicators and classifications of the SNA 2008 by specialist involved in the analysis of macroeconomic processes. Thirdly, the content of the materials of the training module is aimed at creating a strong understanding among participants of the interrelation between the concepts, principles of construction and accounting systems of the  SNA 2008 accounts, the Balance of Payments and the International Investment Position as well as providing basic competencies in the interpretation of the analytical information provided by the indicators of specified statistical systems.

“The purpose of today's event is to increase the level of knowledge among employees of the State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan, the Central Bank of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan on the economic content and information opportunities of macroeconomic aggregates of the SNA 2008” explains Rovshen Nurmuhamedov, UNDP Assistant Resident Representative.

The online training will be led by the International consultant Associate Professor, Candidate of Economic Sciences O.I. Obrazcova. The objectives of this project implemented by the UNDP and State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan is to strengthen institutional and technical capacity aiming at supporting the transition to SNA 2008 and the implementation of objectives and indicators of the relevant Sustainable Development Goals. The training manual was developed with support of the “Experts on Demand” program funded by the government of the Russian Federation.
