Ashgabat, 22 June 2020: A round table on the implementation of state statistical classifications was held at the State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan, as part of the project "Strengthening the institutional and statistical capacity of national accounts", jointly implemented by UNDP and the State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan.

The round table brought together experts from the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan, Central Bank of Turkmenistan, Pension Fund of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Turkmenistan, Main State Service "Turkmenstandartlary", State Insurance Organization of Turkmenistan and State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan. Participants learned about the state statistical classifications, which were aligned with international standards, namely the “System of National Accounts 2008” (SNA 2008).

“The purpose of today's round table is to present state statistical classifications used in the SNA 2008 and recommendations for their implementation in national accounts”, notes Rovshen Nurmuhamedov, UNDP Assistant Resident Representative.

At present, work on introduction of the 2008 SNA into statistical practice is carried out. The formation and implementation of classifications by the State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan are one of the priority areas for organizing work on introducing the SNA 2008 into statistical practice.

In this regard, the State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan interacts with other ministries and departments, such as the Ministry of Finance and Economics of Turkmenistan, the Central Bank of Turkmenistan and other institution.
