Mock session helps Turkmenistan delegation prepare for the ICESCR constructive dialogue

Ashgabat, 20-21 September 2018: The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) conducted a simulation workshop to prepare the delegation of Turkmenistan for a constructive dialogue with the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. On October 1, 2018, a constructive dialogue will be held on the implementation of the recommendations of the 2nd periodic report of Turkmenistan on the realization of the provisions of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESC).  

The workshop was organized with the participation of an international expert, Mr. Diarmuid Kunnife in real time format, to help the delegation present its report and successfully participate in a constructive dialogue with the Committee. The mock session was aimed at reviewing the achievements and gaps in the implementation of the ICESCR, analyzing past progress and future goals through multisectoral consultations. The session also contributed to the implementation of the Limburg principles for the implementation of the Covenant and the Sustainable Development Goals, as well as the National Action Plans for Human Rights in Turkmenistan.

This event is realized within the framework of the joint project of UNDP and the Institute of State, Law and Democracy of Turkmenistan "Assistance in implementation of the National Human Rights Action Plan of Turkmenistan 2016-2020".
