Ashgabat, 12 September, 2018: A Scientific and practical conference was held in the Conference Hall of the Turkmen State Institute of Finance, dedicated to the tenth anniversary Civil Service Academy under President of Turkmenistan foundation. The goal of the Academy is the strengthening of the professional and practical skills, knowledge of the civil servants from the state apparatus and key institutions and ministries, that are responsible for the implementation of the national and regional programmes on socio-economic development.  At the beginning of the Conference a Welcoming Statement of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, addressed to the Conference participants, has been read out, which stressed the importance of ensuring a high level of professional training of civil servants for effective public administration and provision of services to the population of the country.

The Conference was attended by the representatives of international organizations, accredited in Turkmenistan, scientists of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, branch research institutes, faculty members of higher educational institutions, students of the Academy of Civil Servants under the President of Turkmenistan, officials of the ministries and departments, representatives of public organizations and mass media .

“The cooperation between UNDP and the Academy began almost from the moment of its foundation and continues successfully to the present day. We have achieved great success, working together. We succeeded to establish cooperation in the Government priority areas , such as the implementation of information technologies in public administration and information security, we began to work on improving the curriculum of the Civil Service Academy, focusing on the municipal government, human development and e-government” noted Ekaterina Paniklova, Senior Programme Coordinator Regional Office UNDP.

UNDP, in the context of its mandate and the capacity  of integrator in the area of Sustainable Development Goals implementation, assists the Civil Service Academy under President of Turkmenistan in improving the management system, thereby contributing to the achievement of the objectives of the Goal 16. This goal is one of the central points in the Agenda 2030, because only with an effective system of public administration, inclusive access to quality services and transparent state institutions can sustainable development be ensured.
