December 7, 2018

Ashgabat, 3-6 December 2018: The United Nations Development Program (UNDP), together with the Embassy of Israel in Turkmenistan and the Israel’s Agency for International Cooperation in Business Development, Management and Marketing, conducted a 4-day course on the topic of budgeting and business planning. The event was attended by more than 20 women entrepreneurs, members of the Center for Business Women at the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan. The goal of the course is to train women entrepreneurs on key skills for expanding and optimizing business.

Turkmenistan, having ratified the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, promotes gender equality and the empowerment of women in the country. Particular attention is paid to the role of women in business development.

“Supporting women's entrepreneurship is one of the key areas of UNDP work around the world. Being engaged in entrepreneurship, women get greater access to financial and other necessary business resources, influence decision making, develop and self-actualize” noted Elena Panova, UNDP Resident Representative in Turkmenistan.

The seminar provided an opportunity for women entrepreneurs to familiarize themselves with the main points addressing issues related to business planning. In addition, the seminar helped to understand how to effectively use budgeting tools to promote own business and learn how to evaluate the profitability of the existing marketing strategy.

The event was facilitated by Ekaterina Rudenko, Head of innovation and entrepreneurship programs at the MASHAV International Training Center in an interactive form with practical exercises with the development of business plans and mentoring support.
