The award was announced during the annual conference of the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease, held on October 11-14 in Guadalajara, Mexico.

The Stop TB Partnership has been giving awards since 2016 to National TB Programs, NGOs, international organizations, academic institutions and other organizations succeeding in TB excellence. This year a total of 11 prizes in six different categories were awarded by different Stop TB Partnership Secretariat teams, including the award from the Global Drug Facility.

Vitalie Vremis, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in Turkmenistan, said that "based on the analysis of the procurement of anti - tuberculosis drugs over the past few years, there have been no disruptions in the supply of anti - tuberculosis drugs in Turkmenistan. It should also be noted that Turkmenistan is almost the only country where all imported anti - tuberculosis drugs are registered at The Center for Registration and State Quality Control of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan. All these Government efforts contribute to strengthening Turkmenistan's position as a leader in efficient procurement and supply of anti-TB drugs. "

At the end of the ceremony, participants expressed mutual readiness to continue cooperation to ensure universal access to quality diagnostics and treatment of tuberculosis.
