Ashgabat, 25 October 2017: The United Nations Development Program (UNDP), in cooperation with the Museum of Fine Arts of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan, opened a photo exhibition dedicated to the celebration of UN Day and the Independence Day of Turkmenistan.

The photo project presented the chronology of the work of UNDP in Turkmenistan from the early years of its work on the territory of the country and also displayed paintings of many national artists from Turkmenistan. The main goal of the exhibition is to demonstrate the results of the long-term fruitful cooperation between UNDP and the Government of Turkmenistan, thereby strengthening and enhancing the future relationships between the parties.

“Today, we are celebrating over 20 years of cooperation between UNDP and the Government of Turkmenistan. Our five-year financial envelope for 2016-2020 has significantly increased up to USD 50 million, which is roughly USD 10 million per year. We are very grateful to our national partners and our development partners who generously support our programme,” stated Elena Panova, UNDP Resident Representative.

The opening ceremony was attended by the representatives of the ministries and agencies of Turkmenistan, university administrators, diplomatic missions and international organizations.

The organizers of the event held an auction on which the works of artists were purchased.

The exhibition is open until October 30, 2017.
