UNDP and Ministry of Economy and Development of Turkmenistan discuss macroeconomic stability and medium term development perspectives

Ashgabat, 17 February 2016: The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Ministry of Economy and Development held a round table discussion with participation of the relevant economic and financial institutions of Turkmenistan on the medium term economic development perspectives of Turkmenistan.

The roundtable discussion was opened by the Minister of Economy and Development Mr. Yoldash Sheripov which was held within the process of assisting the ministry in the development of the next Presidential social economy plan 2017-2021,  that will also include the new global SDGs that will be adopted by Turkmenistan.

Participants of the roundtable considered regional trends and possible impacts on Turkmenistan. UNDP’s Senior economics’ advisor Dr. Ben Slay provided analysis on current global and regions economic related issues and suggested some policy recommendations for going forward.

 Both sides agreed to collaborate on this issues going forward.
