Turkmen MPs learn international experience in public administration and strategic planning in local development

Experience of the CIS and EU countries in the field of strategic planning and public administration for local economic development were discussed during the round table with the participation of MPs and experts of Mejlis, representatives of the municipalities of Ashgabat city and Akhal velayat.

The roundtable meeting was held in the framework of cooperation of UNDP and the Mejlis of Turkmenistan under the joint project “Parliamentary Development Support Programme”.

Participation in roundtable increased the level of information and technical skills of applying international practices and methodologies of strategic planning of local socio-economic development and improvement of legislation for local authorities and local self-governance bodies.

“Participation in the roundtable gave us good opportunity to learn more about international experience and best practices in preparing and conducting large-scale reforms in the area of public administration and strategic planning for local socio-economic development, enhancing the role of the national parliament in this field through improvement of legislation for local government and self-government bodies”, said Mr. Dovletgeldy Atayev, representative of Mejlis of Turkmenistan.
