  • Seminar on socio-economic assessment of the climate change impacts on agriculture and water management in TurkmenistanJun 23, 2015UNDP Turkmenistan held a seminar to acquaint ministries and government agencies about the results of the socio-economic assessment of the climate change impacts on agriculture and water management in Turkmenistan. The findings of the research were based on the currently ongoing preparations for the climate change forecasting and the needs of local communities in various pilot regions of Turkmenistan of joint project of AF/UNDP/MNP “Addressing climate change risks to farming system in Turkmenistan at national and local levels”.

  • UNDP assists in finalizing the National Action Plan on Human Rights.Jun 1, 2015During May 26-27, two international experts engaged by UNDP worked together with the group of national experts under the Interministerial Commission on Treaty Bodies to finalize the National Human Rights Action Plan (NHRAP) for 2015-2020. The plan is largely based on the recommendation of the Universal Periodic Review and concluding observations of the other international treaty bodies. It is expected that the Government of Turkmenistan will approve the NHRAP in 2015. It will serve as the roadmap for implementation of the treaty bodies’ recommendations, monitoring of the progress based on concrete indicators and deadlines, and national reporting for the next 5 years.

  • Energy audit – a tool for energy conservationMay 28, 2015Another seminar on the fundamentals of energy audit of residential buildings has taken place, this time in the city of Turkmenbashi over 12-15 May 2015. This concluded the series of training sessions on energy audit in all regions of the country. The events, organized by the UNDP/GEF project “Improving Energy Efficiency in the Residential Building Sector of Turkmenistan” jointly with the State Corporation “Turkmengaz” and the Ministry of Communal Services of Turkmenistan, gathered representatives of residential utility agencies, gas supply and energy oversight enterprises of the Balkan velayat, and others with an interest in energy conservation.

  • Energy Audit of Buildings – A Global TrendMay 6, 2015A practical training seminar, “Energy Audit of Residential Buildings”, which already had taken place in Dashoguz, Mary, and Turkmenabad, was held in Turkmenistan’s capital Ashgabat. The organizers of the event were the UNDP/GEF project “Improving Energy Efficiency in the Residential Building Sector of Turkmenistan”, the state concern “Turkmengaz,” and the Ministry of Communal Services of Turkmenistan.

  • UNDP facilitates cooperation between experts from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan on sustainable land and water management in the context of climate changeApr 29, 2015A delegation of 12 experts from the Republic of Kazakhstan were in Turkmenistan to exchange experience with Turkmen colleagues in the framework of a climate change adaptation action run by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The visit included a seminar to discuss recommendations for amendments to the Law "On pastures" and the Code "On Land" (2004) attended by representatives of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan, Ministry of Water Resources of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Nature Protection of Turkmenistan, UNDP, local communities and other stakeholders.
