In Turkmenistan, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has helped the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan with the upgrade of rapid molecular detection laboratories. There are currently 6 high tech labs in Turkmenistan, which can detect TB and MDR-TB (multi drug resistant tuberculosis) in just a few hours to a few days. While MDR-TB is rarer, it is harder to treat, with only 54% of patients’ worldwide successfully completing treatment. … Read more
